Chris,
Biological Darwinism is in itself absolutely void of ethics (I do not condone Social Darwinism), nature is red in tooth and claw, like Lord Alfred Tennyson so elegantly put it. My own ethics are derived from humanist principles, I try to follow the golden rule, it's as simple as that.
What I don't understand, is how you can say, that the foreign policy (or approach to foreign affairs) of the United States is undergirded by Darwinism, when your president is (I hope you won't be offended by the following) a scientifically illiterate born again christian, openly making decisions based on biblical ethics, which are barbaric to say the least.
I just realized that I may be misunderstanding you, but will let the above text stand, in case I did not. I may be stretching things here, but are you perhaps referring to the insatiable lust for power and wealth (which could be wrongly equated with an animals strife for competitive fitness) that dominates U.S. foreign policy?
Chris,
I should have read your blog before posting this last comment. I see now that you were probably offended by it, I'm sorry about that and would like to say that all comments, from christians or otherwise, are of course welcome, even though my replies (being such a stout atheist) may sound harsh at times.
